The Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act

It was my honour and privilege to introduce and pass Bill 67, the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act. This Bill sets a new foundation for trades and apprenticeship education in Alberta and opens the door for the Province to create new apprenticeships for in-demand occupations. The Bill was drafted to implement the recommendations of a taskforce that was convened in 2019 to examine ways to improve Alberta's trades and apprenticeship systems.

The new Bill will also allow ticketed journeymen to receive academic recognition for their previous training and education. This will open up more doors for our skilled trades professionals allowing them to build on their knowledge by pursuing more educational opportunities.
